The Email Flow – I’m Drowning

The flow – Email generates about 400,000 terabytes of new information each year worldwide according to “How Much Information? 2003 study from the University of California at Berkeley (http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/research/projects/how-much-info-2003)

About 31 billion emails are sent annually, on the Internet and elsewhere, which is expected to double by 2006 (source: International Data Corporation (IDC). The average email is about 59 kilobytes in size, thus the annual flow of emails worldwide is 667,585 terabytes. To put some context on how much information is represented by a terabyte; a terabyte equals 50,000 trees made into paper and printed.

I guess that’s why my email inbox keeps overflowing onto the floor…Tags:
